I made a quiche! First quiche I have ever made. Was not too difficult at all. Recipe and method as follows!

Pastry:
225g Gluten Free Plain Flour
115g Butter/Margarine
1/4 tspn Xanthan Gum
One egg yolk
2 tbspn water

Mix the flour, xanthan gum and the margarine until it’s like little breadcrumbs, add the water and yolk and kneed into dough. Grab some sliver foil or cling film, pop the dough on there and roll out. Gluten Free pastry isn’t the strongest and is prone to falling apart (The Xanthan Gum is there to try and prevent that), so once it is rolled out, use the sliver foil to help flip it into the dish that you will be using. Remember to grease the dish

Prick with a fork, let it chill in the fridge for 15 minutes, before covering it with greaseproof paper and rice and chucking it in the oven for 10 minutes, before removing the paper and rice and leaving it in for another five,

Filling:
Pea Paste
(saute onions in saucepan, mix in 200ml hot water with dissolved quarter of vege stock cube and 300g peas - fresh or frozen - simmer for a few minutes then mash or blend, you’ll need about half of what you get)
2-3 stalks off a head of broccoli, finely cut
150g unsmoked bacon
3 Eggs
1/2 onion, finely cut
100ml semi skimmed milk
80g Cheddar Cheese, grated

Start off by popping your bacon in the oven at the same time as your pastry base, want it in there for 15 minutes. Now might be a good time to make the pea paste, takes five minutes tops. May as well wait for the bacon to finish, but once you’re ready saute the onions before popping them, the paste, milk, broccoli and eggs in a bowl and mix them together. Spoon this mixture into the open top pastry. Once the bacon is done (Leave oven on), cut it into bite size bits and sprinkle on top, followed by the cheese.

Put in the oven for about 25-30 minutes. Should be nice and golden on top.

Enjoy with whatever you like!

I’m not the biggest fan of how PETA always conducts itself, but I thank them wholeheartedly for this recipe, because it’s very comparable to chicken wings, and damn good.
Recipe is on PETA’s website, it’s the first link if you search “Vegan Buffalo Wings” on Google

A hot day calls for a cool mediterranean-inspired salad + a hard boiled egg on the side.

Oh, I love Thug Kitchen. TK promotes healthy vegan eating with an attitude and is on the path to greatness, winning tons of awards and being recommended by Gwyneth Paltrow on TV and shit.

It’s pretty easy to see Thug Kitchen’s appeal.

While I’m not vegan, we do eat vegan about 80% of the time. San Francisco is full of amazing vegan restaurants, but if you’re not near vegan mecca (Berkeley is the center of the vegan world, I believe) Thug Kitchen’s recipes are super easy it incorporate into any kind of diet.

Plus, the Thug isn’t just swearing up and down about eating your vegetables, he (or she) is also ridiculously knowledgeable about nutrition and balanced diets.

Real Talk: Thug Kitchen is my favoritest food jam on the internet right now. Go peep the site and then eat a fucking avocado. And remember: Never trust a glove with a face. http://thugkitchen.com
